According to Chinese Customs statistics, trade between China and Brunei reached a record high of US$2.85 billion in 2021, up 46.6% year-on-year. Of this amount, Chinese exports to Brunei reached US$630 million, up 35.2% year-on-year, while imports from Brunei reached US$2.22 billion, up 50.1% year-on-year. This is the first time in 12 years that the volume of bilateral trade has exceeded the US$2 billion mark since it exceeded US$1 billion in 2010.Compared to the same period last year,the growth rate of trade between China and Brunei is faster than the 28.1% growth rate of trade between China and ASEAN.
Since March 2021, trade between China and Brunei has been growing steadily bucked the trend. From last January to September, the trade volume has exceeded US$2 billion, hitting a record high.Some key China-Brunei cooperation projects made great contributions to this mark.
